Video of the Week ‘In Your Arms’ by Kina Grannis

For our Valentines Day video, we’ve picked something rather special; a music video by a young singer called Kina Grannis, whose stop animation video took 30 people 22 months to make (a total of 1,357 hours) and features 288,000 Jelly Beans. We were hoping to try and recreate this in the office, but the Jelly Beans kept disappearing!

The video of the week reminded us of Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer video. Which came out in 1986 (26 years ago), how scary is that!

Some quick facts about 1986…

  • The year 1986 was designated as the International Year of Peace by the United Nations.
  • In January – The first PC virus, “Brain”, starts to spread.
  • In February – Pixar Animation Studios is opened.
  • Also in February – The Soviet Union launches the Mir Space Station.
  • In April – The Chernobyl Disaster.
  • In July – Prince Andrew marries Sarah Ferguson at Westminster Abbey.
  • In December – “Voyager” completes the first nonstop circumnavigation of the earth by air without refueling in 9 days, 3 minutes and 44 seconds.
